Biography
Dr. Chantelle Hart is an associate professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences and a research scientist at the Center for Obesity Research and Education. She holds a graduate degree in clinical psychology from Case Western Reserve University and completed her internship and fellowship in pediatric obesity at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Prior to joining the faculty at Temple, Dr. Hart was an associate professor (research) at the Alper Medical School of Brown University and staff psychologist at the Weight Control & Diabetes Research Center at the Miriam Hospital.
Dr. Hart's research focuses on the use of behavioral approaches for prevention and treatment of obesity in childhood. Specifically, her research focuses on understanding the role of enhancing children's sleep to decrease risk of obesity and cardiometabolic disturbance, and the effect of early life risk factors on children's obesity risk. A cross-cutting theme of this work is the identification of effective approaches to decrease health disparities in pediatric populations. Dr. Hart’s work as PI has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the American Diabetes Association since 2009. She currently serves as a member of the Lifestyle Change and Behavioral Health (LCBH) study section at the NIH, is on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, Eating Behaviors, and Frontiers for Young Minds, and is an associate editor of SLEEP Advances.
