Biography
Dr. Crystal L. Austin’s clinical and research interests include exploration of intersecting identities, biracial identity experiences, race-based traumatic stress, and family of origin dynamics. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University at Albany and her dissertation research was supported by the University at Albany Dissertation Research Fellowship Award. Dr. Austin completed a doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship in Health Service Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania and is currently pursuing licensure as a psychologist in Pennsylvania. She has worked in university and community mental health settings in a variety of roles, including intervention, assessment, outreach and supervision. In research, teaching and training, Dr. Austin strives to approach participant, student and client care holistically and in a way that exercises cultural humility, curiosity, and respect.
