Biography
Dr. Parsaoran Hutapea is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Temple University. He received his BS (1995), MS (1997), and PhD (2000) all in Aerospace Engineering from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC. His research focus is on the mechanics and design of medical devices. His research has been supported by private, state, and federal agencies. Currently, his work is supported by the Department of Defense and the National Science Foundation to study the mechanics of surgical needle-tissue (soft materials) interaction. Dr. Hutapea is the Director of the Composites Laboratory (https://sites.temple.edu/hutapea/) and the Nano Instrumentation Center.
