Biography

Andrea M. Wolf, DNP, FNP-BC, ANP-BC, PMHCNS-BC is associate professor and coordinator for the family nurse practitioner and adult gerontology primary care tracks in the doctor of nursing practice (DNP) program within the Department of Nursing. Dr. Wolf joined Temple University in July 2021. She received her BSN from Temple University, her MSN from the University of Pennsylvania, and her DNP from Case Western Reserve University. With her extensive experience in developing DNP and nurse practitioner (NP) curricula for post-master's and post-baccalaureate programs at various institutions, Dr. Wolf will provide input into the review and subsequent revision and expansion of the DNP program at Temple. She is responsible for didactic and practicum courses in the primary care tracks and will also co-teach in DNP project courses.

Dr. Wolf has been a family nurse practitioner at Lancaster Family Practice Associates, which is part of the UPMC Health System in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, since 1991. Prior to joining the family practice group, she also practiced in emergency medicine, pediatrics and women’s health specialty settings. Currently, she provides primary care to patients of all ages with a strong focus on healthcare for women. She has precepted NP students for most of her years in practice. Dr. Wolf has had a strong interest in healthcare of underserved populations. She participated in medical mission trips to Nicaragua where she helped to establish a neighborhood primary care clinic. She also provided women’s health to incarcerated women at the Lancaster County Prison and conducted her doctoral research with this population.  

Dr. Wolf was a co-author of research on the implementation of the DNP for nurse practitioners which focused on the clinical aspects of the degree.  She also has a strong interest in nurse practitioner workforce issues and co-authored a study examining the congruence of post-graduation career plans related to scope of practice (acute care vs. primary care).

Dr. Wolf is a member of the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) where she served on the Board of Directors from 2014 to 2018. During her tenure on the Board of Directors, she contributed to the revision of the Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Competencies and provided input into the 2018 statement by NONPF supporting the DNP as entry level education for all nurse practitioners. She was elected in 2020 for a two-year term on the NONPF Nominations Committee and is currently serving as chair of the committee.
