Biography

Lawrence D. Brown is the Seymour Wolfbein Distinguished Professor of Accounting at Temple University. He previously taught at Georgia State University where he was the J. Mack Robinson Distinguished Professor of Accountancy, SUNY-Buffalo where he was the Samuel P. Capen Professor of Accounting, University of Iowa, and SUNY-Binghamton.

Dr. Brown has his BS from SUNY-Buffalo, his MBA from the University of Chicago, and his PhD from the University of Rochester. He received extensive training in accounting, economics, finance and mathematics. His principal research interests are in capital markets, corporate governance, forecasting, and methodology. He has over 80 publications and has made nearly 200 presentations at universities and professional conferences. He is one of the most highly cited academics in his field (both media and by other academics) and downloads from his ssrn.com website place him in the top 100 of over 200,000 authors. He is a past editor of The Accounting Review and a past associate editor or editorial board member of numerous journals. He is an editorial board member of The Accounting Review and a member of the executive committee of the annual Conference on Financial Economics and Accounting. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2006 American Accounting Association’s Outstanding Accounting Educator Award.
